Support Coupeville school measures

We are so grateful to live in a community that has always placed a high value on our children and our schools. By now, residents in Central Whidbey have received ballots in the mail offering three important measures on the future of the Coupeville School District. We need your support again, and urge you to vote YES on all three ballot measures.

We are so grateful to live in a community that has always placed a high value on our children and our schools. By now, residents in Central Whidbey have received ballots in the mail offering three important measures on the future of the Coupeville School District. We need your support again, and urge you to vote YES on all three ballot measures.

Ballot measure 1 asks for our continued support of a Maintenance and Operations Levy that has been in place for nearly two decades. This is a critical levy that funds over 20 percent of ours school’s operating budget. The M&O levy helps purchase textbooks and supplies, and provides funding for after school activities, bus transportation, security, maintenance and other services.

As parents with children in our schools, we can’t emphasize enough the importance of ballot measure 2. This is a four-year technology levy that will help our children stay competitive in this fast paced and ever changing world by having access to up to date equipment. The tech levy will provide funding to replace old computers (some more than 10 years old and not repairable) and purchase classroom equipment considered standard in classrooms across the country. Note: If the M&O levy does not pass, this measure will not pass.

Ballot measure 3 proposes a sensible change to our voting districts. By creating three new geographically defined director districts and two “at large” positions, more people will have the opportunity to run for a school board position.

The future of education in Coupeville is in your hands. Please vote yes on the three ballot issues this February.
