Sherrye Wyatt to oversee new rural program at Washington Filmworks

Wyatt has been named Rural Economic Development Manager for Washington Filmworks.

Sherrye Wyatt has been named Rural Economic Development Manager for Washington Filmworks and begins the full-time position in January.

Wyatt, a Whidbey Island resident, will oversee a new program to encourage more film production in Washington state’s 30 rural counties. Washington Filmworks is a nonprofit organization which manages the Motion Picture Competitiveness program, as well as a diversity of resources for the state’s creative industries.

Wyatt has served as public relations and marketing manager for Island County’s tourism organization, Embrace Whidbey and Camano Islands, as a part-time independent contractor for nearly 14 years. Her contract ends Dec. 31, 2023.

Currently, all seven contractual positions at the tourism committee are accepting new proposals for 2024. Deadline to submit a proposal is at noon on Nov. 27.
