She brings the right experience

I read with amusement editor Jim Larsen’s gushing interview with U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen about the recent Democratic Convention. The Democrat congressman tells our editor that Senator McCain’s pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is a terrible mistake and then states that she’s not ready to take over the Presidency.

Is Congressman Larsen serious or does he think us islanders are a bunch of dunderheads? Gov. Palin has more executive experience from any one month of her life than senators Obama and Biden have from their entire lives, combined.

Remember, we’re talking about choosing a leader for the Executive Branch. Senator Obama, the self-proclaimed community organizer, has never run a business, a city, a state or a squadron. Neither has Sen. Biden. Sen. Biden, a lawyer-turned-politician since 1973, is the exact opposite of the glorious change that Sen. Obama has promised his followers.

By contrast, Sen. McCain served his nation honorably in uniform, commanded a training squadron and retired at the rank of Navy captain. No small feat. Should anything happen to a President John McCain, I believe our nation will be infinitely better off with a mother of five at the helm, who is doing a fine job reforming her state as governor, and who has been overseeing the Alaska National Guard.

In fact, if experience were the only criteria, we’d be better off with her any day over a career community organizer or career lawyer-politician. Fortunately, there are many other great reasons to vote for this ticket. It was a bold and brilliant move by McCain and I can’t wait for the debates!
