A 40-year-old convicted sex offender who was creating online pornography at his Oak Harbor home was arrested in January for illegally possessing firearms, court documents indicate.

Prosecutors charged Ken Dausey in Island County Superior Court March 30 with nine counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree.

Dausey pleaded not guilty April 13.

According to a report written by Detective Sgt. Mike Beech, he investigated a referral from Child Protective Services regarding Dausey and his wife “manufacturing” pornography at their home. Beech browsed the Web site and was concerned about the age of one of the models, he wrote.

Beech, another detective and a CPS caseworker went to Dausey’s home and talked to him about the pornography.

Dausey admitted that he photographed some of the pornographic images at his home, but he said his children were not present at the time, the report states. Dausey said the young-looking model was not underaged and he met her through a friend who runs a pornographic film production company, the detective wrote. But while Beech was in the house, he saw rifles in a gun cabinet. Dausey is a convicted sex offender, though he no longer has to register, and he’s a felon, which means he’s not allowed to own firearms, court documents show.

Beech seized five .22 rifles, two shotguns, a Ruger .270 rifle and a handgun, his report indicates.
