Seminar to take a look at disaster scenarios

Emergency preparedness experts will lead a seminar addressing possible disaster scenarios on Whidbey Island and what residents can do to protect and care for themselves and their livestock should such an event occur.

Emergency preparedness experts will lead a seminar addressing possible disaster scenarios on Whidbey Island and what residents can do to protect and care for themselves and their livestock should such an event occur.

Topics of discussion will include large scale risk assessment and disaster scenarios, personal and property preparedness, neighborhood cluster networks and livestock owner preparedness plans.

Speakers include Eric Brooks, Island County Department of Emergency Management; Rusty Palmer, fire chief, South Whidbey Fire/EMS; Bonnie Abney, Coupeville Neighborhood Emergency Team coordinator; and Sandi Farris, DVM, Harmony Veterinary Service.

The event is at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the Coupeville Rec Hall, 901 Alexander St., Coupeville.

This event is hosted by the Island County chapter of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington.
