Seat open on Whidbey General board

Whidbey Island Public Hospital District Board of Commissioners accepted the resignation of District 4 Commissioner, Dr. Roger Case last week. We extend gratitude for the years of service he provided to the district and the residents of Whidbey Island, said Anne Tarrant, board president.

The district is accepting applications from civic-minded and capable individuals with a business or health-care background to fill District 4’s vacant position. District 4 includes all of the Seaplane base south of Crescent Harbor Drive, the State Highway 20 corridor through Oak Harbor, and the east side of Oak Harbor.

A Public Hospital District is a municipal entity formed within a defined geographic area to provide health care services to community residents and others in need. The geographic area for WGH is Whidbey Island.

Washington state law requires that elected boards of commissioners oversee the general conduct of hospital district affairs.

They are charged with fiduciary oversight and to ensure the quality of care delivered.

This is done through the CEO and through board committees.
