Robert O. Miller, 70, a 33-year resident of Oak Harbor, died at his home Jan. 1, 2005, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Miller was born in Lake Mills, Wis., April 21, 1934, to Ervin Oscar Miller and Margaret (Danke) Miller. He graduated from high school in Lake Mills in 1952, after which he joined the U.S. Navy. He met and married Phyllis Morgan in 1958 in Kansas City, Kan. At the time, he was stationed at Olathe, Kan., Naval Base.
The Millers moved to Oak Harbor in 1971, and Bob retired from the Navy at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in October 1975. He worked for Melco for seven years and then Brown and Root and Del-Jen on the base.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, at home in Oak Harbor; one son, Donald Miller and wife Alex of Oak Harbor; two daughters, Roberta “Bobbi” Miller of Federal Way and Nancy McKinney and husband Elreece of Oak Harbor; 13 grandchildren, Christopher and wife Kristi, Josiah, LaShanda, Jacob, Megan, Rick, Carrisa and husband Buck, Jayme, Robert, Laura, Erin, Jasmine and Dee; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Emily.
One sister, Kaye Gasner and husband Keith of Marshal, Wis.; one brother, Jerry Miller and wife Sharon of Lake Mills, Wis.; and numerous other relatives also survive.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Home Health Care and Hospice of Whidbey General Hospital, 101 N. Main St., Coupeville, WA 98239.
