Right the wrong and reinstate Martha Rose | Letter

This is in response to Reustle Lindner’s Oct. 1 letter to the editor.

Editor,

This is in response to Reustle Lindner’s Oct. 1 letter to the editor.

First of all, Sandra Kuykendall was a contracted employee, and her contract was up Sept. 30, so you can’t threaten her with her job with your McCarthyism.

Secondly, she never composed any emails to “all employees” but did forward a definition of a word from Wikipedia. I can see where your politics would have the perspective that this would be “back-handed and threatening” since the word was “McCarthyism.”

Several employees asked for the actual definition, so she sent it to “all” with no comments.

Your letter is a classic example of this word.

By the way, the definition is: “… reckless, unsubstantiated accusations as well as demagogic attacks on the character or patriotism of political adversaries.”

Demogogic: “A political leader who tries to get support by making false claims and promises and using arguments based on emotion rather than reason.”

Island Transit would best be served by righting the wrong caused by the demagogic pressure the board faced by reinstating Martha Rose.
