The public can see big rigs, get free treats and check out the construction site of the new sewer treatment plant at a Family Fun Day set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at Windjammer Park.

The free event includes educational booths, a safety walk, scavenger hunt and a World of Wheels — which is a big rig demonstration, said Sandra Place, with the city of Oak Harbor Public Works Department. Staff will have goodies for kids such as plastic hard hats and other hand outs for their “swag” bags.“

It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to come down and visit near the construction site, learn what is going on there and, in addition, learn more about Public Works as a whole,” she said.
