An Oak Harbor man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and DUI following a Nov. 11 accident that injured two people, according to Washington State Patrol and the Snohomish County Jail.

The State Patrol reported in an accident memo that the crash occurred at about 6 a.m. in the southbound lane of Interstate 5 near the Stanwood exit. Matthew M. McManis, 49, of Oak Harbor was driving a 2006 Mini Cooper and lost control, striking a cable barrier, the memo states. The vehicle came to rest on its top.

The memo states that passengers 51-year-old Manuel Cruz of Burlington and 33-year-old Viviana Sianez of Mount Vernon were both injured in the one-car crash. They were transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett for treatment.

It was unknown if any of the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The memo states that drugs or alcohol are suspected factors in the collision and that the cause of the crash was driving while impaired.

The Snohomish County jail roster indicated that McMannis was being held in custody as of Tuesday morning on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault. His bail was set at $10,000.
