Oak Harbor Emblem Club No. 450 announced its 2016 scholarship recipients. Each recipient was awarded $1,175 to attend a college or university of their choice.

Ching graduating from Central

KIAH SIERRA CHING will graduate from Central Washington University June 11.

Ching earned a bachelor of accounting degree with a specialization in finance.

Cadet graduates from West Point

TUCKER LUNDSTROM, son of Dwight and Shanna Lundstrom of Oak Harbor, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on May 21.

Lundstrom graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 2012. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in mechanical engineering and played flanker for the West Point rugby team.

He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Armor branch, and will report to Fort Carson, Colo., for his first assignment in a Stryker Brigade.

Emblem Club gives 2016 scholarships

Oak Harbor Emblem Club No. 450 announced its 2016 scholarship recipients. Each recipient was awarded $1,175 to attend a college or university of their choice.

Iona Rohan, of South Whidbey High School, received an additional $1,000 scholarship from the Oak Harbor Elks.

Rohan has not yet selected a school.

Michael Uttmark, of Oak Harbor High School, plans to attend Stanford University and major in engineering. He received an additional scholarship from the Oak Harbor Elks for $1,000, a $2,000 scholarship from Washington State Elks Association and a $4,000 scholarship from the Elks for the Elks Most Valuable Student Competition, in which he was a national finalist.

Dansy Thomas, of South Whidbey High School, plans to attend Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

Rebecca Robinson, of Coupeville High School, plans to attend Cottey College in Missouri, where she’ll major in marketing.
