Forest City Enterprises Inc., of Cleveland, is selling its entire military-housing portfolio of approximately 15,000 homes to privately held Hunt Companies Inc., of El Paso, Texas, according to an announcement last week.

The sale includes military housing associated with three naval installations in the Puget Sound area, including Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.

The deal increases to more than 32,000 the number of houses owned and managed by Hunt, that firm said. The company now owns more than 51,000 homes, it said in the press release.

Forest City owns and manages 1,499 houses serving NAS Whidbey, base spokesperson Tony Popp said Monday.

Popp said the base does not expect any changes as a result of the sale.

“The services provided to you today and rent allotment process will not change, so there will be no interruption or inconvenience to you,” the companies pledged in a Nov. 13 letter sent to Forest City tenants.
