Island County Sheriff The following items were selected from reports made to the Island County Sheriff’s Office: Tuesday, May 27 At 12:12 p.m., a Lake Drive resident said that her middle-aged neighbor was exposing herself and “flipping (me) off.” Wednesday, May 28 At 5:59 p.m., a caller reported seeing a kite surfer go down at the mouth of Penn Cove. At 6 p.m., a caller reported that a man was busting out the windows of a bus shelter with a sledge hammer on State Highway 20 at Banta Road.

At 5:59 p.m., a caller reported seeing a kite surfer go down at the mouth of Penn Cove.

At 6 p.m., a caller reported that a man was busting out the windows of a bus shelter with a sledge hammer on State Highway 20 at Banta Road.

Thursday, May 29

At 12:49 a.m., a caller reported that a man in a ski mask and hoodie was hitchhiking on State Highway 20 near Monroe Landing Road.

Friday, May 30

At 12:29 p.m., a Scenic Avenue resident reported finding a rifle in a red bag on her property.

Saturday, May 31

At 4:33 a.m., a caller reported that a person in a sheet was standing on Deception Pass Bridge.

Sunday, June 1

At 10:11 a.m., a woman reported that her dog fell 100 feet down a bluff on West Beach Road.

At 2:11 p.m., an open-line call was received from State Highway 525. A man could be heard saying “I just don’t like you” and something about “locking you up.”

At 8:03 p.m., a caller reported that a cell phone was found on Whidbey Drive that contained “disturbing” texts about kidnapping and abuse.

At 9:15 p.m., a caller reported that a man took his clothes off at Bayview Park and Ride.

Tuesday, June 3

At 9:14 a.m., a caller reported that a man was sitting on the sidewalk with a propane bottle and a lit torch in front of Ace Hardware in Freeland.

At 11:28 a.m., a Maple Street resident reported that someone threw a hatchet into the TV.

At 4:59 p.m., a man reported that he came home from deployment to find his camera and laptop stolen.

At 8:20 p.m., a woman reported that she was verbally assaulted at Haven Place. She said a man also picked up a steak knife and hit the dog with a walker.

Wednesday, June 4

At 11:08 a.m., a West Camano Drive resident reported that the dog brought in a bone that looks like a human tailbone.

At 1:25 p.m., a caller reported that an older man was video recording at OLF Coupeville.

At 1:53 p.m., a caller reported that someone stole a water softening machine from a pump house on Scenic Heights Road.

At 4:55 p.m., there was a report that an eagle was struck by a vehicle on Highway 20 in Coupeville. The injured eagle was in the roadway.

Thursday, June 5

At 6:43 p.m., a caller reported he was assaulted by a man on Tarragon Avenue. The assailant also punched the caller’s windshield out.

Saturday, June 7

At 6 p.m., an employee at Short Stop Texaco in Freeland said that a man came into the store with a mask, gloves and sunglasses. He bought a lighter and refused to remove the mask.

At 7:14 p.m., a caller reported that a man in a black mask was standing at the entrance to the Country Store in Coupeville.

Sunday, June 8

At 4:25 a.m., a hospital employee reported that a combative patient ran out of the back of the medical surgical unit.

At 2:48 p.m., a caller reported that a man was “acting crazy” on Ault Field Road. The man threw his jacket into the road and jumped in front of the caller’s car.
