Local spending out of control

I wonder if our state, city and county leaders watch the news? We happen to be in a recession! I drive to Coupeville every day and can’t help to notice all the forest on the way. My question is, why did the state have to go to New York and spend $170,000 on wooden guard railing when the Pacific Northwest is famous for its trees? They couldn’t make them here?

It reminds me of the $90,000 Oak Harbor spent on painting trees on a water tower that is surrounded by, um, trees! And Pioneer Way, what a waste of money. You are going to kill downtown, people use that road to go to and from the base, and you are going to make it a one way, at what cost to the taxpayers who don’t want it? Dumb!

I’m tired of our local government wasting money on useless stuff! There is absolutely nothing for our youth in this town. The skate park is in the middle of a field that can’t be seen, or barley seen from any of the roads in the area, so there is no monitoring of what goes on there. That’s it for our youth, and it’s not even covered. Hello, it rains here!

We need to stop the free spending habits of local government. Anything over $20,000 should have to be voted on by the people, but knowing government they would find a way around that, too.
