Lions offer special needs adult ‘camperships’

Coupeville Lions Club is offering camperships to four new adult campers with special needs to attend Lions Camp Horizon in Birch Bay. Lions Camp Horizon has offered camping opportunities for special needs adults 18 and over for over 30 years. Camp sessions are six days with five camp sessions in July and August. Four sessions cater to individuals with moderate to severe challenges and provide opportunities for arts and crafts, recreational programs, and various social activities with peers. The Adventure Camp session provides opportunities for campers with more mobility and includes go-carting, hiking, boating/kayaking, scavenger hunting and swimming.

The camp fee is $550 for one week plus a $25 application fee. The Coupeville Lions will pay the first $375 for first-time campers living in the Coupeville School District. Campers with financial need can apply for an additional campership from Lions Camp Horizon.
