Teresa Avery, a registered pharmacist, has taken a position at Island Drug’s Oak Harbor store, that company said.

She has more than 25 years’ experience working in clinics and pharmacies in Seattle and Maui.

Teresa has also worked in the behavioral and mental-health setting. Most recently she initiated an opiate overdose prevention program at Swedish Pavilion Pharmacy in Edmonds.

At Island Drug, she will help launch a specialty pharmacy program, which will provide access to novel drug therapies for patients who would otherwise have to rely on mail-order pharmacies for delivery and monitoring. Teresa and her husband, Paul, recently relocated to the island from Seattle.
