Hundreds of people will share their Thanksgiving holiday together at the Coupeville Recreation Hall.

Coupeville’s Community Potluck begins at noon Thanksgiving Day and continues until the food runs out.

A loose-knit group of a half a dozen or so volunteers will cook the turkey, ham and gravy as the main course and it’s up to the people who show up to bring the side dishes, said Sandey Brandon, publicist for the event.

“It’s just an opportunity to get together,” Brandon said.

The dinner is funded through donations and it is alcohol and smoke free.

In addition to the residents attending, Brandon said tourists visiting Coupeville and families with loved ones in the hospital also enjoy a Thanksgiving meal at the rec hall.

People can also stop by to pick up food for folks who are home-bound, or are working on the holiday.

Brandon estimates between 180 and 240 people show up for the dinner.
