High school winter sports begin Monday, Nov. 15

The high school fall sports season concludes with the state volleyball and swimming tournaments this weekend, which means winter sports are just around the corner.

The high school fall sports season concludes with the state volleyball and swimming tournaments this weekend, which means winter sports are just around the corner.

The Oak Harbor and Coupeville high school winter athletes take to the floor, mat and pool this Monday, Nov. 15, for their first practices of the 2010-11 season.

The Oak Harbor boys basketball team, under head coach Mike Washington, hit the gym at 2:45 p.m. next Monday and Wednesday, and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The Lady Wildcats, directed by first-year coach Trisha Clayville, start at 5:30 Monday and Wednesday and 2:45 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Mike Crebbin’s Wildcat wrestling squad turns out from 2:45 to 5:15 each day.

Coach Amy Nervic and the Oak Harbor swim team have a varied turnout schedule depending on the availability of John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool. The Wildcats, who do both land work and pool time, hit the water at 1:15 p.m. Monday, 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, 5:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, and 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

Coupeville’s boys basketball team and veteran coach Randy King begin at 3 p.m. Monday.
