Whidbey General Hospital Foundation recently debuted a kiosk in the hospital lobby containing an electronic display for community information and hospital events.

The new kiosk is getting rave reviews for the elegant cabinet encasing the modern digital display. Local woodworker Gary Leake was commissioned to create the kiosk of maple and purpleheart.

The display welcomes hospital visitors and provides public announcements. Information is updated daily from the Community Relations office.

“I love having the ability to share timely information through a communication tool that provides understanding and mutual value for Whidbey General Hospital and our community.” said Trish Rose, hospital community relations coordinator.

The kiosk also provides a convenient location for the community to find information and brochures from the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation, and make hospital payments or contributions to the foundation.

Laura Blankenship, executive director of the foundation, was on hand for the installation by Gary Leake and his wife Sandy. “I was so excited to see the kiosk become a reality.” she said. “Increasing the visibility of the foundation within the hospital has been a goal of our board of directors for some time. The kiosk built by Gary Leake is a gorgeous vehicle to accomplish that. We were delighted to also be able to incorporate two other long standing objectives for the hospital in the multipurpose kiosk.”

The kiosk’s digital display replaces improvised metal stands that held pinned or taped paper flyers for hospital announcements. The display will rotate information about hospital events, classes, healthcare facts and initiatives.

The mission of the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation is to support hospital and community health endeavors through public awareness and the development and management of charitable resources.
