Girl struck by Jeep on the way to school in Oak Harbor

A Jeep hit a 12-year-old girl on her way to school Monday morning, according to Oak Harbor Police Chief Ed Green.

A Jeep hit a 12-year-old girl on her way to school Monday morning, according to Oak Harbor Police Chief Ed Green.

It was still dark and the girl was walking across the street just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and South Oak Harbor Street, located north of Oak Harbor Middle School.

An Oak Harbor man driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee bumped the girl.

The girl complained of pain to her arm. Medics examined her on scene. Her parents arrived and took her home. The driver was cited for failure to yield.
