Family: Otis saved by neighbors

This last Sunday, our somewhat “plump” golden lab named Otis found himself stuck in a culvert pipe that leads underneath the road in front of our house.

This last Sunday, our somewhat “plump” golden lab named Otis found himself stuck in a culvert pipe that leads underneath the road in front of our house. Otis is a dear member of our family and is getting up there in age. We were terrified when the 911 operator didn’t seem to share our concern over the situation. We were told it could be awhile before help could arrive and they weren’t exaggerating.

Lucky for us, our neighbors are Cliff Houghtaling and Ben Benedict. With the help of Cliff’s backhoe, we were able to free Otis long before any emergency help could arrive. For that, we felt the need to write this letter and convey our gratitude.

If you happen to know either one of these gentlemen, give them a pat on the back and say “good job!” They deserve it. After all, Otis isn’t just a dog, he’s our best friend!
