Editor,

I’m enjoying the politically heated letters. Much of the current turmoil is from a segment of the population identified in the 1980s as “Right Wing Authoritarians.” Generally, 25 percent of a given population fits the profile.

They are overwhelmingly conservative, supported the Iraq War process, military, flag, guns, Jesus and whatever else their leaders and media want them to.

You see the worst of them on YouTube beating up people who don’t share their views.

The RWAs have been cultivated by the GOP as a reliable voting block since repeal of the Fairness Doctrine 30 years ago.

Reasons for repeal of the Fairness Doctrine seemed sound. There are plenty of places outside commercial media for opposing viewpoints — cable access.

Liberal talk shows don’t succeed commercially because they don’t entertain like Trump or Rush who reinforce fear, prejudice and hate while provoking a reaction.

Money drives media and most of it is held by a few at the top.

The message of commercial media is skewed by its wealthy owners and is not a reflection of reality. There was some political rumbling of bringing the Fairness Doctrine back, but I think not.

Having a loud reliable block of citizens to help the government impose its will could come in handy.

I avoid Godwin’s law.

Bernie has a huge following, but you won’t know it watching commercial TV.

I don’t know how this Trump thing will end but when it does, his followers will flock to Ted Cruz if he’s still around.

Jeb is a possibility.

Reality won’t happen until the GOP convention when a less offensive candidate will be imposed.

Mitt?

I don’t understand how half the population can’t or won’t vote. I presume the media and RWAs have convinced them they’ve already lost.
