Ebey’s Forever Fund helps historic homes

The Trust Board of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve is holding a workshop to show owners of historic homes how to apply for the Ebey’s Forever Fund.
The fund, which was established in 2011, provides money that helps owners of historic homes located within the reserve maintain the historic character of their structures and keep them functioning as working buildings.
The Trust Board is committed to awarding a minimum of $50,000 to projects in 2012.
Participants will learn specifics of the program, including the process, criteria, funding and reimbursement procedures. As building owners complete their project, they will be reimbursed up to 50 percent of the cost of the preservation work.
Buildings that are listed on the national Register of Historic Places, Central Whidbey Island Historic District 1995 update are all eligible to receive funding.
The workshop takes place Saturday, March 24, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Coupeville Library located at 788 NW Alexander St. Copies of the guidelines and applications are available at the workshop.
