Coupeville Mayor Nancy Conard will give her annual “State of the Town” address 6 p.m. Monday at Christopher’s on Whidbey.

Attendees will dine on heavy hors d’oeuvre prior to the presentation.

Conard said she will give an overview of the town’s economic indicators — sales tax, hotel/motel tax and real estate tax.

Those are usually a good indicator of how the town is doing, she said.

Conard will also discuss current capital projects, construction projects and challenges the town faces.

One of those challenges, she said, is finding the best way to provide police service to the community.

A workshop on the very issue is being scheduled after the town council’s regular meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28.

The Coupeville Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event and admittance requires tickets purchased prior to the event.

“I think it’s important for the people to have an update on details of their town,” said Lynda Eccles, chamber director. “It’s important to hear from our mayor on an annual basis.

Cost is $18. Eccles said she has extended the deadline to purchase tickets to Friday.

To reserve tickets call the chamber at 360-678-5434.
