Here's what's happening at Whidbey Island churches.

GRIEFSHARE, a support group for those in mourning, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 10 through Dec. 10, at the Family Bible Church room C-3, 2760 No. Heller Road, Oak Harbor. Call 360-679-3736 for more information.

COFFEE BREAK BIBLE STUDY will begin the fall season with a six-week study of the Apostle Paul’s two letters to the Thessalonians, some of the earliest Christian literature in the New Testament. These short but powerful books discuss what it means to have faith, and how that faith can affect day-to-day living. This study group will meet weekly at 10 a.m. Thursday mornings beginning Sept. 17, at the Oak Harbor Christian Reformed Church, 1411 Wieldraayer Road (off Swantown Road). AN EVENING WITH FERNANDO ORTEGA will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the First Reformed Church in Oak Harbor. Ortega is a pianist and singer-songwriter who has produced 16 albums over the past 25 years. He is noted both for his interpretations of many traditional hymns and songs and for songs such as “Good Day.” His album “Home” won the Dove Award for best inspirational album. Tickets cost $20 for advanced purchase general admission, $25 at the door or $35 for a VIP pass. Ken and Linda Halvorson will teach an eight-week MARRIAGE CLASS called the Gottman Seven Principles Program 7-8:45 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The class is designed for couples, and both partners are expected to attend. Register by Sept. 10. Cost is $90 per couple for workbooks and materials. Contact the church office at 360-331-5191. The class is for pre-married, married, empty nesters and second marriages. It is not designed for couples with serious marital issues or psychological problems or individuals with addictions. The class is an educational series and not marital therapy. It is designed for couples who wish to learn new tools in their relationship, enhance communication and increase intimacy.

OAK HARBOR CHRISTIAN SCHOOL is currently enrolling preschool and elementary students for the upcoming 2015-16 school year. His Kids PRE-SCHOOL REGISTRATION at Oak Harbor Lutheran Church for the 2015-16 school year is open. His Kids Pre-School, a play and learn environment, has offered early childhood education for more than 20 years. There is a registration fee of $100 at the time of signing your child up. YOUTH ACTIVITIES at Coupeville United Methodist Church are at 5 p.m. Sunday nights. There are games, music, crafts and Christian education. Special activities are planned for taking the teens to beaches, forests and other activities. All youth grades six through 12 are welcome; they don’t need to have an affiliation with the church or attend any church. WHIDBEY ISLAND FRIENDS (QUAKERS) hold their regular meeting for worship 4-5 p.m. Sundays at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20103 Highway 525, two miles north of Freeland.
