A child pornography investigation by a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security led to an Oak Harbor man, according to the agent’s report.

On May 11, the Island County Prosecutor’s Office charged the suspect, 36-year-old Jeremy G. Gier, with three charges for allegedly possessing, viewing and sending or bringing child porn into the state.

Last year, a federal agent was investigating the dissemination of child porn over the Internet through a file sharing network. The IP address of a computer that was a possible source of suspected child porn led to Gier’s home in Oak Harbor, according to the agent’s report.

The agents served a search warrant on the house last summer and seized a computer. Agents found eight suspected images and videos of suspected child porn, the report states.

If convicted on the charges against him, Gier could face up to two years and 10 months in prison under the standard sentencing range.
