Beverly E. Allen

Beverly E. Allen, 83, of Coupeville, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014. She was born on Sept. 11, 1930 in Corcoran, Calif., to J.A. “Jack” and Edith Box. She married G. Marvin Allen and lived in Tulare, Calif., until 1992 and then moved to Coupeville. She studied at Central California Commercial College, College of the Sequoias, California State Bakersfield and Porterville College. She was a certified accountant and worked for Linder Equipment in Tulare, Calif., from 1961 to 1964 and M. Green and Company from 1964 to 1992 as a bookkeeper.

She loved knitting and needlework, rock-hounding and lapidary, camping, collecting fine artifacts, photography, reading and corresponding with many friends and family. Later in life, she got the technical bug and loved her iPad. Beverly dearly loved the Coupeville, Wash., area and visiting with her many family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Bryan L. Allen and his fiancé Michele Bordier of Quartz Hill, Calif.; Ralph Allen and his wife Debi of Lander, Wyo.; and Valerie J. Allen of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Sochi Allen, Ralph Allen II, Michael Turpin, David Turpin, Nina Landis, Hannah Allen and Sarah Allen, and great-grandchildren, Miriam, Thomas, Andrew, Ralph III, Reagan, Katie, Alan Jr. and Brianna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Marvin Allen; brothers, Vern and Billie Box; parents, J.A. “Jack” and Edith Box and two infant children, George Marvin Allen, Jr. and Eileen Allen.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank all of her dear friends on Whidbey Island. Services are under the care and direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
