A vandal armed with a BB gun has struck Oak Harbor again and again.

Someone with a BB gun shot out windows in seven cars just after midnight on Saturday morning, according to Oak Harbor Police Chief Rick Wallace. He said some of the vehicles had multiple windows hit.

Then six more cars and the screen door of a house were struck in the early morning hours on Monday.

The BB shootings were a repeat of what occurred the previous weekend when someone traveled all over the city and shot the windows of 16 cars with an air gun.

Wallace said the total damage from all the shootings is approaching $20,000, which makes it a felony-level crime. The police recovered a number of the BBs.

“We are confident it was the same people in all the incidents,” Wallace said. “We are following up leads we hope will be fruitful for us.”

Wallace said the recent BB shootings occurred on the east side of Highway 20, while the vandal hit cars all over the city on the first weekend. The police believe the suspect or suspects were shooting from a car.

The Oak Harbor Police sent out an email on the “community alert network” warning residents about the crimes. The messages asks victims who haven’t reported what happened to the police or have seen anything suspicious to call Oak Harbor Police Department through ICOM Dispatch Center at 679-9567.
