Coupeville’s Lauren Bayne of the Island Flyers earned a first-place medal at the Washington Association of Tumbling and Trampoline Championships in Renton April 6.

Five other members of the Flyers, all from Oak Harbor, also finished among the top five in individual events.

Winning state titles is becoming a habit for Bayne, 13 and a seventh grader at Coupeville Middle School. This was Bayne’s four trip to state and third championship.

This time around she won the Level 6, Division 13-14 (age) trampoline crown.

Bayne added a second place in Level 6, 13-14 double mini and a fourth in Level 5, 13-14 tumbling.

She said she wasn’t nervous competing at state since she was used to the atmosphere from past experiences. Bayne also said the win wasn’t a surprise because she considered herself the favorite in the event.

Teammate Paris Quinn, 11, was the only other Flyer to take a title, winning the Level 4, 11-12 tumbling event.
