Valentine’s Day spreads the love on Whidbey

Events

The Blue Fox Drive-In in Oak Harbor will offer a Valentine’s special package deal Feb. 10, 11, 13 and 14. For $50, the package includes admission for two to “A Man Called Otto” and “Knock at the Cabin”; one large, one-topping, heart-shaped pizza; one large tub of popcorn; two large drinks; and one large brownie sundae to share. Groups of more than two can pay for the additional people upon arrival.

The romantic comedy “Barefoot in the Park” will run for two more weekends at the Whidbey Playhouse. Shows take place on Feb. 10-11 and 17-19. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and matinees begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at whidbeyplayhouse.com.

Coupeville’s annual Chocolate Walk will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Visit participating downtown shops to receive chocolate treats. Tickets are $20.

The Whidbey Camano Land Trust is hosting a guided Valentine’s walk and talk from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Del Fairfax Preserve in Oak Harbor. Dogs are welcome, and registration is required on the land trust website.

Dancing Fish Vineyards in Freeland will host a romantic prime rib dinner with live baroque lute music from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 14. Registration is required in advance at dancingfishvineyards.orderport.net/wines/events, and the reservation fee is $60 per person.

The Fare Market will host a “stoplight social mixer” perfect for couples and singles alike from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14. Guests can socialize with different colored bracelets; red for “taken,” yellow for “I don’t know” and green for “it’s a go.” The Fare Market is located at 1675 Main Street in Freeland.

The Whidbey Island Orchestra, conducted by Cynthia Morrow, will put on a special Valentine’s Day concert called “Isle of Love” at 7:30 p.m. on the holiday at the South Whidbey High School auditorium. Tickets are available at the door or online at WICAonline.org.

Langley restaurants Prima Bistro and Saltwater will each be serving Valentines specials over the holiday weekend. Call Prima at 360-221-4060 for a reservation. Saltwater is first come, first served.

Oak Harbor Cinemas will host a Galentine’s movie night at 6 p.m. Feb. 15. Snacks, charcuterie and champagne will be available, and the movie will be “9 to 5.” Tickets are $10 each. Email ameliasellswashington@gmail.com to reserve a spot.

Sweet Mona’s Chocolate Boutique and Seabiscuit Bakery in Langley will each be selling special Valentine’s treats.

Special gifts are also available through Whidbey Island Grown; Foxtail Farm in Freeland is offering locally grown dry flower bouquets, Acorn Bakery in Langley has a chocolate cookie variety pack and heart-shaped baguettes, and Chocolate Flower Farm in Langley offers a variety of flower seeds.
