The Whidbey Island Arts Council’s Literary Arts Committee presents “Writers on the Rock,” an evening for local writers to read their prose.

Join Patricia Duff, Literary Chairperson for Whidbey Island Arts Council, to kick off WIAC’s prose event at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, Whidbey Pies at Greenbank Farm. This evening will be dedicated to prose (not poetry) and offers an opportunity to read and hear the recent work of local writers.

For those who would like to read, you’ll sign up at the event for a timed five-minute slot, including your introductory remarks. If more slots than readers are available, you may get a chance at two or more.

If you’re a shy writer, you can submit your work for a performer to read it for you. Submit all excerpts to Duff by noon on Monday, June 7 at pduff@whidbeynewsgroup.com. Please use “Writers on the Rock” in the subject line.)

The cafe will be open for dinner at 6 p.m. especially for the event, with a variety of food items including its famous pies. Whidbey Pies Cafe also serves wine, beer, espresso and soft drinks in addition to its famous Loganberry wine and Loganberry Prosecco Spritzers.

Come to eat, drink and read, or to sit and listen to what island writers are producing.

Support the Whidbey Island Arts Council, that ever-present promoter of artists-to-be, fine art, music, performance, literature and all those who produce it.

Admission to “Writers on the Rock” is free, but a donation to the council is appreciated.
