It’s time for the “Treasures of Whidbey Island” quilt show, on Aug. 6, 7 and 8 at the Elks Lodge at 155 NE Ernst St. in Oak Harbor.

Hours are Friday 1 to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, the annual free pig roast and festival will be on Sunday, Aug. 8 on Fidalgo Avenue in Oak Harbor. Come do both!

Come see a showing of contemporary quilts made by Northwest quilting artists. A 1880’s crazy quilt, owned by Terry and John Schalde of Oak Harbor, will be exhibited. Also, a collection of 10 rare antique quilts, that were only exhibited once 20 years ago, will be displayed, owned by Jodi Grenzner of Everett.

CDs of all quilts displayed will be available for purchase.

Enjoy exhibitions by Paper Piecing Guru, Lassie Whittman and local cross stitch pattern maker, Mary Gaines. Vendors include ZaZa Beads & Findings from Idaho with embellishments of all kinds. Washington state based vendors include Martinelli Products with sewing aides that include ergonomic cutting tools, the Threadmonger with a rainbow of thread painting delights, and Quilters Roost with temptations for your next project … and other surprises.

The Elks Club will provide lunch entrees and drinks for sale on site. All profits from the show will be donated to local Whidbey Island Elks Club charities. Free parking is provided and the building is handicapped accessible.
