Editor,

I deeply appreciate Whidbey Island Naval Air Station’s open house on June 27. The flying, the quality human-to-human time and sense of purpose — especially with the Team Whidbey banner and flying — was much renewed.

Come August, this Skagitonian may endure much more difficulty making it to Whidbey Island, thanks to Island Transit once again doing things to ridership without a state Legislative rescue.

Let everyone know, whether wishing me well or ill, that I shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival, the safety and the success of the VAQ Wing.

At least my VAQ Wing friends know that this grateful American’s got their back. I just hope other patriots will commit deeds to match their rhetoric of supporting NAS Whidbey.
