Plenty of help for Help House drive

Santa was good to Help House this year. Our Christmas in July Food and Fund Drive was a success. We received over 12,100 food items and raised just over $10,900 in cash. This was especially important this year since our donations, in general, have been down. However, the community comes through again!

Thanks go to so many: Becky King and Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor for again sponsoring this event; Albertson’s and the Aviation Ordnanceman Association, Safeway and the Oak Harbor Lions, and Saar’s Market Place and the Kiwanis for giving their time and facilities for food collection; to Woodward’s TaeKwondo for their two food drives; Travis Kruger from CNATTU and his group of volunteers for the car wash they held at Wal-Mart; to Susie and Island Drug for their annual discount food drive; to Zorba’s for their participation in the Help a Bunch, Go Out to Lunch drive; to Leah and Martin’s Auto and their customers for their $1 donation for every oil change in July; Dennis Taylor and SICBA for the 70-plus cases of chicken that they donated; to all the churches, civic groups, base commands and individuals who donate food and money; thank you so very, very much. I apologize if I missed anyone.

From all of us here at Help House, our sincerest thanks to all.

Jean Wieman,

Help House executive director
