In case anyone is wondering why we have not received our real estate statements from Island County, I found out today after going to the trouble and expense of driving to Coupeville to the Island County offices.

I was told that they had not been sent yet because of orders from the newly-elected treasurer not to mail them out until Island County went to the trouble of having new forms printed because her name had one letter wrong. What did that cost?

How many people are like me and have to leave the island not knowing when or how much to pay for real estate taxes because of such a vain attitude? It does not matter whose name is on the form, spelled correctly or not. I don’t think that it is a legal point if the name is spelled with an S or a Z.
