Make a call to be counted

This is census year and we have been hearing how important it is for our communities to be counted. Census results are used to decide the number of representatives each state has in the U.S. Congress. The amount of government money your neighborhood receives also depends on these answers. That money is used for services for children and the elderly, roads and many local needs.

Have you been counted?

This could be happening to you. I did not receive a census form. When I questioned the post office they said that this form could not be sent to a post office box because there was no physical address. Because I live in the center of Coupeville where there is no mail delivery, I rely on a post office box. Others may rely on post office boxes for other reasons. When I heard that the census was closed, I called the Census Bureau at which time they sent me a form To “The Resident at P.O. Box xxxx, Coupeville, WA.” Does that make sense?

If you have not been counted call 1-866-872-6868 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., 7 days a week. The telephone call is free.
