Letter: Systemic racism did not ‘just fade away decades ago’

Editor.

Bill Merrill, in a study resumes sent out with white sounding names received a one-in-10 callback while the same resume with black sounding names received a one in 15 response.

This type of disparity is found in rental leases, loans, rates of layoffs and much more. This is systemic racism. You state these problems are caused by people of color not taking responsibility for their actions.

We would all benefit if you would recognize that systemic racism did not “just fade away decades ago.”
