Letter: Is city of Langley serious about being a sanctuary?

Editor,

There is a massive wave of new migrants pouring across America’s borders, adding to the already large number of migrants that have come in the last two years

Many American cities and counties are struggling to provide for these migrants. They are simply being overwhelmed as their taxpayer-funded finite welfare resources are depleted. Mayor Adams of New York just sent out a distress call. You can easily find the video of Mayor Adams speaking.

“Let me tell you something New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to — I don’t see an ending to this,” the mayor said on Wednesday night in his opening remarks at a town hall-style gathering in Manhattan. “This issue will destroy New York City.”

Since Langley is a self proclaimed sanctuary city, do the mayor and council members plan to help in any way? Are they planning to take in their fair share of these migrants, using Langley’s resources and citizen’s tax money to alleviate the burdens of other cities and counties? Or was the declaration of Langley to be a sanctuary city just empty virtue signaling?
