Letter: Grange thanks lawmaker for his interest

Editor,

The Deer Lagoon Grange #846 wishes to thank and publicly acknowledge state Rep. Clyde Shavers for his participation in a recent discussion about requested funding towards facility repairs of our historic meeting hall in South Whidbey. Rep. Shavers is aware of the importance of grange organizations in Washington communities as they relate to agriculture, farming, and education. Not only was he attentive to our list of capital improvements as he toured the Grange, he provided suggestions about alternative methods for achieving the results. He was enthusiastic and supportive of the Grange’s mission to serve Whidbey Island with educational programs, scholarships and community service.

We understand the competitive nature of funding to sustain the operation of local nonprofits and appreciate Rep. Shavers’ time in meeting with us to discuss assistance for the Deer Lagoon Grange.
