Letter: Caucuses are important part of democracy

Editor,

The Island County Republican Party is pleased to announce we will be holding our 2024 Caucuses on Jan. 13, 2024, at three different locations around Island County; North Whidbey, South Whidbey and Camano.

Caucuses are an important part of grassroots politics. This is where likeminded folks gather to elect delegates and alternates to the party’s County Convention and from there even on to the state and national conventions. It’s also where we discuss ideas to bring forward for our platform and discuss local issues we all find important.

It is not a stretch to think that Island County could have delegates and/or alternates go to the National Convention. We have certainly sent people before. It is quite an exciting time!

To participate, a person just needs to be a registered voter where they live, show government-issued photo ID (preferable WDL or ID Card), and be willing to sign a document stating they are a Republican and will not be attending another party’s 2024 caucus or convention.

To find out where your precinct will be gathering and for more information, please go to our Caucus and Convention web site at www.Islandcountygop.org

Hope to see you there.
