I attended a Town Hall Discussion at the Deer Lagoon Grange Hall on the evening of October 7th that was supposed to have featured three candidates for positions on the South Whidbey School Board. Sadly Gwendy Gabelein was the only candidate who showed up.

I had sent her an email earlier where I stated that a person’s true character these days can be assessed by the answer to this simple question: Do you believe the 2020 national presidential election was conducted fairly and that Joe Biden legitimately won the race?

Ms. Gabelein did not answer the question in her response a few days later, nor did she answer the question when I posed it again at the forum on the Oct. 7. I can only assume that she has bought into the false notion that the 2020 election was rigged and that Donald Trump won the race.

Should Gwendy Gabelein be elected to the School Board, she will have enormous influence over what’s taught in the classroom. We should not elect someone who cannot, and will not, accept a simple truth.
