Letter: Article about foundation had an error

Regrettably, there is one error in the article that needs to be corrected.

Editor,

Whidbey Community Foundation is excited about the new Whidbey Affordable Housing Fund — a component fund of the foundation that started in partnership with Dan Neumeyer, owner of JADE Craftsman Builders.

Whidbey News-Times recently published an article highlighting this new fund and its potential for contributing seed money to affordable housing projects. Regrettably, there is one error in the article that needs to be corrected. During the webinar, Dan Neumeyer wanted to illustrate the type of project this new fund might support and mentioned, as an example, the Island Roots Housing project — Generations Place. The article, however, incorrectly stated that the new fund contributed to Generations Place. To clarify, the new Whidbey Affordable Housing Fund has not made any contributions yet to any projects. Island Roots Housing did receive seed funds via Island County from a federal source that is no longer available.

We are grateful for the coverage of this exciting partnership and opportunity for future affordable housing projects on Whidbey.
