Editor,

Outlying Field Coupeville provides a training area for planes that will be taking off and landing on carriers at sea.

Granted, OLF is not affected by rough seas, which the pilots will have to cope with, but it has served as a training runway since the early 1940s.

Our military has spent 13 years carrying out the orders of our government regarding the war in the Middle East. They are serving our country with dedication and honor and are on guard so that we will be kept safe and secure in our nation.

Every time I hear a plane fly over I am grateful for the dedication to duty and the protection provided by our military.

The sacrifices made by the military and their families to follow the orders of our leaders is commendable.

They don’t care if we are Democrat or Republican, pacifist or hawk.

They serve with honor.

We have some residents who are concerned about noise, some who are concerned about questionable health issues and some who are concerned about financial issues due to the noise.

Maybe we should be concerned about the sacrifices our service people are making to protect us and recognize their dedication to duty.

The airplanes and the OLF have been here for a very long time. Hopefully I will be here for a very long time, too.
