Be sure to meet St. Clair, a candidate for commissioner

Editor,

We in Island County have a candidate for commissioner from Camano Island who is outstanding.

Janet St. Clair has a breadth of experience few candidates have had in the past. She has been a teacher and social worker, and director and board member of various nonprofits.

Janet’s background prepared her for the sometimes contentious responsibilities of being on the Island County Board of Commissioners. Currently, Janet is on the Community Health Advisory Board of Island County and the Program Council for the five-county Accountable Communities of Health.

She is also the board president for the Stanwood Camano Community Resources Foundation. Her past community experience includes serving on boards for the local food bank, a youth outreach nonprofit, leadership for family support coalitions and behavioral health coalitions.

She has taken the “Civility Pledge” and believes in communication and finding ways to discuss areas of concern around which there may be disagreement. This is important. Competence as an Island County Commissioner requires civility as well as a strong background in community leadership.

Janet attends many community events and she is very friendly, so if you see her when you are out and about, please take the chance to meet her. You will be glad you did.
