Wildcats close out Wesco season with win / Wrestling

Winning a battle of shorthanded teams, the Oak Harbor High School wrestling team whipping host Stanwood 46-33 in the regular season finale Tuesday, Jan.14.
The Wildcats (2-4, 4-5) now head into the postseason, staring with the Wesco North meet Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3 and 4, in Stanwood.
Oak Harbor was missing several key wrestlers because of injury and illness in the match with Stanwood, but the Wildcats still rolled by the Spartans who were hurt by four forfeits.
In fact, Stanwood won six of the 10 contested bouts.
Three of the four Oak Harbor wins were by pins: Sidney Thomas (106 pounds, 1:05), Caleb Fitzgerald (120, 3:26) and Trevor Vaughn (170, 3:09).
Ethan Pace (160) won by major decision, 12-1.
Jakob Dailey (113), Tayvion Shaw (126), Nick Dugin (182) and Abe Coleman (220) all won by forfeit.
In other matches, Dylan Sanchez (132) lost by fall (3:45), Lucas Nickelson (138) lost by fall (3:39), Shingo Johnston (135) lost by fall (2:31), Wyatt Ridgeway (152) lost by fall (1:10), Michael Fisken (195) lost by fall (:26) and Hayden Campbell (285) lost 4-2.
