Wolves fall to Knights

The Coupeville Wolves came out on the wrong side of a 21-6 score in their loss at King’s last Friday night. The 1-2 Wolves put up 284 yards of offense but could not crack the Knights’ defense once inside the red zone.

Dan McDonald gave Coupeville an early 6-0 lead on a 13-yard run. McDonald had 91 yards on 17 carries in the first half.

King’s bounced back, scoring on a three-yard run by senior Cameron Jones and took the lead on a successful point-after kick. Junior quarterback Chris Faidley then threw to Hadley Ma for a 57-yard touchdown that gave the Knights a 14-6 lead into intermission.

Jones capped the scoring with his second touchdown, this one coming on a four-yard run.

The Wolves had no problem moving the football. Quarterback Brad Sherman was 17-of-30 for 192 yards throwing the ball, but the senior was picked off three times. Sherman was 13-of-21 for 134 yards in the second half.

McDonald was slowed down in the second half, gaining just five yards on five carries. He finished with 96 rushing yards.

The Wolves were led on defense by the 17 tackles of linebacker/defensive back Casey Mitchell while John Palacio had 14 tackles and JD Myers and Mike Cummins logged 10 tackles each. Brain Fakkema came up with four interceptions.

The Wolves host 1-2 Charles Wright Academy Friday at 6 p.m.
