Stanwood snapped the Oak Harbor girls tennis team’s four-match win streak Monday, April 26, on the Wildcats’ courts.

Oak Harbor, after losing six in a row, turned it around and knocked of the league’s second and third-place teams during its string of wins, but the streak ended when first-place Stanwood nipped the ‘Cats 4-3.

Oak Harbor (5-7) picked up its three wins against Stanwood (10-1) in singles in dominating fashion. Erin Neilon, in second singles, and Laurin Rico, in third singles, both won 6-0, 6-0. Clarissa Abadesco was nearly as dominate, winning 6-0, 6-1 in third singles.

Stanwood won the remainder of the matches in straight sets. Oak Harbor’s Cady O’Dell lost in first singles 0-6, 0-6. In doubles, Jordan Faralan and Kerry Rathsabanhdith fell 3-6, 3-6; Jennifer Bowers and Jennifer Fremd lost 0-6, 4-6; and Alexa Holmly and Shannon Neilon lost 0-6, 0-6.

Oak Harbor will be at home Wednesday, April 28, against Marysville-Pilchuck (4-6) at 3:45 p.m.
