Cody Fakkema and Joshua Crebbin captured individual championships at the Graham Morin Memorial Tournament at Bellingham’s Squalicum High School Saturday, Dec. 15.

As a team, the Wildcat wrestlers managed to place fourth out of 16 clubs although coach Mike Crebbin entered only nine wrestlers out of 14 weight classes.

Oak Harbor scored 114.5 points; Snohomish won with 250.

Coach Crebbin said he rested several wrestlers because of injuries and several others missed because they were participating in an NJROTC competition.

Fakkema took the 132-pound class with a 3-0 record, including a 12-2 win over Nooksack Valley’s Hunter Whittern in the finals.

Joshua Crebbin won all four of his bouts, taking the championship match 9-6 over Snohomish’s Tanner Perry.

Jahleel Vester (138 pounds) and Mark Johnston (145) each placed third with 3-1 records.

Jeremy Vester (126) and Courtney Shavers (170) both went 3-2 to finish fifth.

Jacob Dugin (220) posted a 1-2 record, and Christian Bertram and Jeremy Alonzo (195) were 0-2.
