Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County is looking for teams to participate in the 13th annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake events coming up next month on Whidbey Island.

The fundraising events will take place at Oak Bowl in Oak Harbor on May 7 and at Ebey Bowl in Coupeville on May 14.

Here’s how it works: A team captain puts together a team totaling five bowlers. Teams choose to bowl on either of the dates. Each bowler is encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County, and to be eligible for the BFKS T-shirt.

Organizers say anyone can put together a team, such as Navy squadrons or commands, businesses, service groups, police and firefighters, student groups and friends and families.

The agency can also help connect those interested in bowling who aren’t part of a team.

The annual bowling event is one of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County’s largest annual fundraisers. Organizers say Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a fantastic opportunity for a company, organization or group of friends to build team spirit while helping Island County children who need it most.
