Letter: Strong libraries build strong communities

Editor,

During these summer days, one of the best views on the south end is from the Langley Library. Beyond being relaxing places to sit and read, our libraries are community havens. They offer a tremendous range of enriching materials and services. Libraries offer joyful storytimes, promoting lifelong literacy in our youngest neighbors. They offer computers and printing for anyone who needs access and engaging events for those looking to learn new skills or make connections. These resources are more important than ever.

Friends of the Langley Library believes strong libraries make strong communities. Proposition 1 is essential to keeping Sno-Isle Libraries thriving.

By restoring the levy rate to $0.47 for every $1,000 of assessed property value, this levy ensures our libraries grow with our beloved community and covers rising costs. Voting Yes for Prop 1 means protecting the programs, buildings, technology, and books that bring us together, inspire learning, and fuel creativity.

Our library system is important to us. We hope you will take action beyond voting yes to ensure Prop 1 passes. Spread the word to your friends, neighbors, and social media network. Stay informed about Prop 1 by visiting www.sno-isle.org/levy and www.yesforlibraries.org.

Vote YES for Prop 1 by August 4 to keep Sno-Isle Libraries strong and thriving for everyone!
